  • Bonus Reviews

Occasionally I may add a bonus review of an associated book to the end of a film review. The reason may be that the book doesn’t warrant a full review of its own, because most has been said in the film review, or because it just seems to work that way. The following links are to film reviews, with bonus book reviews at the end of the blog entry.

  • Dracula, novelisation of the 1992 film

  • The Second Hammer Horror Film Omnibus

  • Classic Literature

These are not actually reviews but are my thoughts on some of the greatest and most important vampire books written.

  • The Vampyre

  • Varney the Vampire

  • Carmilla

  • Dracula

  • I am Legend

  • Interesting Shorts

These are not actually reviews but are my thoughts on some of the more genre interesting short stories.

  • A shave and a Haircut, Two Bites

  • Count Magnus

  • the Family of the Vourdalak

  • la Morte Amoureuse

  • No such thing as a Vampire

  • Olalla

  • the Tomb of Sarah

I'm extremely surprised you haven't reviewed Montague Summers' "The Vampire: His Kith and Kin" and "The Vampire in Loe and Legend/in Europe".

Hi Ollie, good to hear from you. I'm actually reviewing books only as I read them... by which I mean books I read some time ago will only be reviewed on a re-read to be fair to the publication.

I an sure I'll re-read the Summers at some point, however.

Hi! I've been reading a LOT lately (averaging about 2 books per week), and have recently read a few vampire novels that I absolutely Adored. I was wondering if you have ever read:

Fiend by Jemiah Jefferson; The Delicate Dependency by Michael Talbot; Vamped by David Sosnowski; Vampire Winter by Lois Tilton

Vampire Winter totally blew me away, i'm already thinking of re-reading it :)

If you haven't read these, I highly recommend them

Hi Evilolive. I haven't read Fiend but have read Voice of the Blood by Jeremiah Jefferson, I seem to recall I enjoyed it.

Nor have I read any of the other books... but I have read Lois Tilton's Babylon 5 novels, bizzarely.

I'll keep my eye out for these in the future.

My current read is Child of a Dead God - part of Barb and JC Hendee's Noble Dead series.
