Coming Up on Taliesin Meets the Vampires

Over the next couple of weeks I intend to have two theme weeks here on the blog.

Next week is ‘Vamp or Not?’ week, where we will look at five films that sometimes might be lumped in with the vampire genre and decide whether they deserve that place. We will even have a poll with one of them so that you, the reader, gets to chose.

The week after we will be, all things being fair, looking at anime for the week, with two feature length films and three series.

As well as this there are reviews due of independent vampire comedy The Kiss, vampire oddity Dracula’s Widow and the Julian Sands vehicle Tale of a Vampire, all waiting in the wings. I’m currently reading Norm Cowie’s Fang Face and that will feature in the not too distant future.

I’d like to take a moment to thank all those who visit the blog, brief visitations and regular readers alike and also those who take time to comment. I won’t mention you all but feel that a nice little community has built up over the years I’ve been running this blog and it is that community that keeps me working on it – as well as an obsessive compulsive desire to look at every little bit of vampire media!

Hey Andy

I am a big fan of 'Tale of A Vampire', esp with its Edgar Allan Poe leanings, it could have been a bit faster paces in some areas, but it's not an 'action' film, and I loved the antagonistic relationshop between Alex and Edgar. Also the flashbacks were great, esp the surreal forest scenes and when Alex asks Victoria whether she chooses to be 'man or beast'. The actor who played Edgar, Kenneth Cranham is fabulous in the second Hellraiser movie.

Also is Dracula's Widow the one with Sylvia Kristel? That movie was quirky and fun from memory, though her 'vampire' face was a bit of a laugh, a bit of a change from her 'Emmanuelle' films I suppose!

Look forward to your reviews!

Cheers Gabriel - it is the Sylvia Kristel one, though just by your comment I suggest that you might be more generous to it than I!

HaHa, well in all honesty it's been about 15yrs since I've seen it. I saw it on vhs from the cult video emporium I discovered Hammer and Eurohorror etc. All I can remember is a horrid power suit that she wore, her funny demon face and ripping some guys heart out. I don't recall it having an actual story.

Anyways, I await your reviews with patience...

Looking forwards to the week ahead as always, mister T!

Like Gabriel, i have a vague memory of Dracula's Widow... maybe it made a single appearance on telly about 15 years ago that no-one dare repeat!

How is fang face coming along, any good?

Cheers Everlost

To be honest I've only read the first few pages of Fang Face so it is much too early to form an opinion
