From legendary goth band Bauhaus, comes the track “Bela Lugosi is Dead”, a stunning version of which is found on their live album “Press the Eject and Give me the Tape”. The song is used to great effect at the head of the film The Hunger (1983), as images of the band in a cage are juxtaposed against the action in the film.
Bela Lugosi is Dead
White on white translucent black capes
Back on the rack
Bela Lugosi's dead
The bats have left the bell tower
The victims have been bled
Red velvet lines the black box
Bela Lugosi's dead
Undead undead undead
The virginal brides file past his tomb
Strewn with time's dead flowers
Bereft in deathly bloom
Alone in a darkened room
The Count
Bela Lugosi's dead
Undead undead undead
