Adapted and directed by Lawrence Burgess, this is an audio dramatization of Dracula, novel accurate and the addition of sound effects, occasional incidental music and a full cast playing the parts add a dimension that makes this standout from many of the other versions available.
The dramatization, rightly, is not short – over 17 and a half hours. The voice acting is excellent throughout and, whilst the voice actors add their own take – Dracula (Lawrence Burgess) is played in a very deep timbre, for instance, which perhaps felt unusual at first but quickly became an interesting direction that fit into the production perfectly – they all worked for me.
Lawrence Burgess has described this as a labour of love and it really comes across that it is. The dramatization is available via Quicksilver Creative Enterprises and, without doubt, is one of the better renditions of Dracula available.
