At around 8-Minutes the United Monster Talent Agency is a little bit of classic monster joy directed by Greg Nicotero and released in 2010. This isn’t so much a short film, rather it is a spoof news item. It starts, however, in a cave…
Kay (Cerina Vincent, Freaks of Nature) is led on a rock, she awakens and hears a roar. David (Sam Page) calls for her and soon they are reunited but not for long. The Gillman (Carey Jones) enters the cave and David, trying to stop its approach, is thrown to the side. It approaches Kay and then… Cut… a net is thrown on the Creature as the scene has finished.
We are then in a Movietone news piece reporting from Hollywood and, more specifically the United Monster Talent Agency. This is the place that provides most of the monster talent for Hollywood – the conceit being that they are all actual monsters. Because of this we get fleeting moments with many classic monsters. The obvious one to mention is Dracula (Sam Witwer, Being Human (US), Dark Angel: Love in Vein & Angel) and we get him in both bat and human form.
There are other vampires and genre related moments, however. We see an agent and a producer doing a deal over Dracula and the narrator (Andy Schoneberg) suggests its “two bloodsuckers agreeing on the price of one.” We also get a moment with the Thing From Another World (Jake Garber) and watch a scene being shot from Bud Abbot and Lou Costello meet Frankenstein, specifically the scene where Larry Talbot, on the phone, turns into the Wolfman (Dana Gould, Stan Against Evil: Vampire Creek). Incidentally the director in this scene (who in real life was Charles Barton) is played by Eli Roth.
