It’s been a while since I had a Richard Poche film featured on the blog and this particular one is from 2021 and comes in at 21-minutes. It is notable for its minimalism with a cast of just two.
Lillian Hunt (Emily Corbo) is a cognitive behavioural therapist and she has a new client, Sam (Megan Cochrane). The majority of the film follows the two with the dialogue going into how Lillian feels Sam is holding something back but has thoughts about violence. We see the violence mentioned on Lillian’s notepad but I thought it unfortunate that the therapy to get those notes was not included. There are some pregnant pauses that felt a little too dead air at times.
Megan Cochrane as Sam |
The fact that we are looking at the film here gives the game away that there is a vampire involved and it is not too much of a spoiler, therefore, to admit that Sam is a vampire but it is what Sam wants that makes the film interesting. Beyond the two in the room, we also get some flashback footage. Whilst we did get the dead air that I mentioned, the dialogue was well delivered by both actresses.
