Coming in at around the eight minutes mark this short film was directed by Sydnee Bethel and released in 2016. It starts with an intertitle telling us that a newly turned vampire, Jason (Chris Levine), has found a ‘descendent’ who can somehow alleviate the vampiric thirst for blood (which has become worse). He takes his findings to an elder vampire, Negrescu (Richard Bradsher), who isn’t interested.
A fight ensued… there then follows a sequence showing what we just read, though without dialogue as a song dominates the sound. It is quite an effective sequence, however, with plenty of atmosphere and ends with Jason stabbing his maker and then biting him.
fangs on show
After the atmospheric start the short becomes a tad confused, possibly non-linear. It centres round a singer, Anna (Cassandra Dailey), who has met someone new (Jason) but is the unrequited object of friend Doug’s (Tommy Oliver) love. Doug vanishes from the scene (after taking Anna to dinner and then being blown off when he tried to kiss her) because Jason kills him.
red eyes
The confusion is probably because this is a curtailed precis of a larger story and the time limitation is not kind in this case. However it looks really nice and I can see a kernel of something worthwhile in it, which perhaps you can seek out for yourself as the short is embedded below.
