Honourable mention: Universal Dead

Universal Dead is a web series, in three parts, directed by Vernon Mortensen, released in 2010 and available to view here.

It is a zombie web-series and features a presentation, five years after outbreak, in which a scientist, Dr. Henry Vataber (Doug Jones, Hocus Pocus, Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Hellboy Animated: Blood & Iron), tries to convince a Government doctor, Dr. David Macavoy (Gary Graham), of his theory about the outbreak.

Vataber is a physicist and the third law of thermodynamics suggests that the zombies should not be able to self-power nor should they be able to consume and not poop. His theory concerns higher dimensional involvement and is really rather clever as a concept. I also – on a zombie level – liked the idea of a bite check, forcing visitors to the base to strip naked, in order to check for bites, before letting them on. Why, however, the honourable mention… a silly question given the illustrative still with this paragraph. Yes, we get something fanged at the end, a mere glimmer of further concepts. I do hope more gets done with this as it really was rather fun. The imdb page is here.
