Interesting Snippets

As is normal for me I have several different books on the go. One that I’m reading as a ‘dip in’ is “Vampires: A field guide to the creatures that stalk the night” by Dr. Bob Curran. Of course, I’ll review the book when I’ve read it but I do relish picking up snippets I’d not come across before.

One such snippet concerned a German vampiric creature called the Tomtin, a goblinish creature with a taste for blood. What I had never heard before was the concept that, as the myth developed, these nasty little blighters became Santa’s Christmas Elves!

I think, perhaps, we shall hear a little more about these creatures, maybe even with an original tale by yours truly, when Christmas comes around again…
