Dracula – performed at Whitby Abbey

staking Lucy
Myself and my family have just had a weekend break in Whitby. A favourite place for both Sarah and I, it was number 1 son’s first visit and he wanted to see the Abbey.

We climbed the 199 stairs and discovered that English Heritage were putting a performance of Dracula on, in the Abbey grounds. The performance we saw was the first performance of the run and it is being shown three times a day (11:30, 13:30 and 15:30) on Saturdays and Sundays through to August bank holiday (with extra performances on that Bank Holiday Monday).

Performed by three actors playing a multitude of roles at various locations across the Abbey Grounds, it is based on Bram Stoker’s novel but understandably has been given more of a Whitby-centric storyline. The three actors were great fun, they ensured there was audience participation and the large audience all had a great time. Worth catching if you are in Whitby, there is a charge for entering the Abbey but the play itself is free.
