Is it too good to be true? After worrying that it is Will Smith to star in I am Legend, could Johnny Depp be fulfilling a role many believe he was born to play? Is Johnny Depp to be a vampire?According to Cinematical he might be. The details are scant, but I assume that he will play the Ben Cortman character from the book, though that is not explicitly stated. If he does play Cortman then I still would love to see Depp in a more traditionally vampiric role, but one step at a time. More details as they are forthcoming.

It has been brought to my attention that the fact that I have deleted a comment on this thread might be construed as me deleting an opinion I disagree with. I will state here and now that I am 100% in favour of debate and have no desire to delete any comment on this blog just because I do not share the same opinion as the poster – I value the comments, and the fact that people are willing to comment, too much.

Personally, I think Will Smith is an okay actor, a bit softcore, but okay. However, he's no vampire. Maybe a disney vampire. :)

Duvy, Smith is playing the human character and, as the last man on earth, he'll spend a huge amount of the film on his own as the key character. It is not to have a go at Will Smith, but I have never seen a performance by him that has convinced me that he has the presence or the gravitas to pull the role off.
